Objective
El Día Después is a broad and diverse collaborative space made up of diverse individuals and organizations seeking to create the social fabric necessary to address complex problems and move toward more sustainable and desirable future scenarios. It was born in March 2020, in the early days of lockdown, with an initial public conversation that opened a reflection on what society would be like after the pandemic, and the opportunity to emerge stronger from the crisis caused by COVID-19. Many months of collaborative work gave rise to the Green Employment Platform—which works to connect people in vulnerable situations with the job opportunities created by the ecological transition—and citiES 2030—a space where Spanish cities are working together to advance toward climate neutrality. In 2023, after three years of stable work, it was decided to take a step forward and provide a formal structure to the collaborative space that had been consolidating. Thus, in the first months of 2023, the necessary steps were taken to transform El Día Después into a non-profit association.
Our role
The itdUPM has been one of the driving forces behind The Day After, along with the Spanish Sustainable Development Network (REDS), ISGlobal, and Iberdrola, organizations that have soon been joined by many others. It has also actively contributed to the transfer of knowledge and tools to facilitate collaboration. Finally, it has systematized the collective experience in scientific articles, guides, and manuals made available to the public.
