Objective
NetZeroCities is the European Union platform supporting more than 100 European cities on their path to climate neutrality by 2030, within the Horizon Europe Mission for Smart and Climate-Neutral Cities. The platform provides tools, technical support, funding, and knowledge sharing to help cities transform their key urban systems. These systems include mobility, energy, buildings, and waste management, and the platform promotes a fair and inclusive systemic transformation.
Our role
The Technical University of Madrid, through itdUPM, is part of the European NetZeroCities consortium as an academic partner, providing methodological support to cities in their systemic transformation processes. We support the application of the NetZeroPlanner economic model, which allows for the planning and evaluation of the costs and benefits of urban climate actions. In addition, we participate in capacity building, peer-to-peer exchange, and the co-design of roadmaps, connecting research and practice. We also co-lead initiatives to strengthen national platforms that promote collaboration between cities with common contexts.
