itdUPM and the INNPULSO Network train local innovation agents to lead the change towards sustainability in their city councils

For two months, 87 local government professionals have participated in a course on the skills needed to create and manage innovation and sustainability plans in Spanish cities.

Designed by itdUPM and the INNPULSO Science and Innovation Cities Network, the training course for local innovation agents has trained for two months professionals dedicated to the implementation of innovative municipal policies, such as digital innovation projects, sustainability plans, energy saving, circular economy, technological and social entrepreneurship, as well as public procurement of innovation projects.

The aim of the course, co-financed by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, was to provide the necessary skills to lead change in local councils, promoting sustainable development adapted to local needs.

During the two months of the course, around 40 academics and professionals in innovation and local management participated as teachers and speakers.

Among the topics addressed were public policies for innovation and sustainable development, regulatory frameworks and urban agenda, planning, implementation and evaluation of projects using digital tools, city missions, urban laboratories and the use of controlled test environments (sandbox), among others.
