On September 26th the NetZeroCities team of itdUPM participated in the launch of the “Community of Practice”, aimed at municipal officials, public and private organizations, universities or NGOs involved in the mission of climate neutral cities.
The Community of Practice (CoP) is a collaborative platform within the NetZeroCities portal, designed for professionals working towards climate neutrality, including municipal officials, public and private organizations, universities and NGOs.
Its aim is to encourage the sharing of knowledge and practices through webinars and the creation of thematic online channels, in order to promote cooperation between the different sectors and the people who make up the group. The group currently has more than 300 participants.
What was the session like?
The launch of this platform took place last September 26th, telematically, and was attended by 90 participants.
The itdUPM team involved in NetZeroCities presented its work in different areas such as training, support for the creation of national platforms or the development and implementation of the economic model applied to climate agreements.
One of the areas that the itdUPM team has promoted in NetZeroCities is the creation and dissemination of case studies of social innovation initiatives from mission cities.
Thus, since 2021 itdUPM has developed 47 case studies on different topics, from citizen participation, co-creation of intersectoral alliances and experimentation of innovative ideas within cities.
Examples of these cases are the citizen assembly on climate in Barcelona or VeniSIA, the Innovation Accelerator for Sustainability in Venice.
These case studies seek systemic changes that inspire and offer new models and initiatives to other cities on how to achieve climate neutrality by 2030 from a societal point of view.
In the coming months, the Community of Practice will organize four additional webinars. Between December and January, itdUPM will lead one of them, which will delve into several of the case studies published within this same task (Extract, map and systematise effective Social Innovation for climate neutrality), with representatives of the initiatives and the cities themselves.
