Objective
The Q-Zero Alliance, launched in January 2024, is an open, multi-stakeholder initiative aimed at promoting the decarbonization of thermal energy demand in Spain, aligning itself with the Paris Agreement’s goal of limiting global warming. It seeks to be a space for meeting and dialogue to address the main challenges, showcase progress, and identify solutions that accelerate the transition, maintaining the competitiveness of the sectors involved and taking advantage of the opportunities arising from the transformation.
Our role
In this project, itdUPM has played a key role as a facilitator, creating spaces for participation, organizing various events for both members and the external public, and coordinating the alliance to transform it into a meeting point.
Its focus is on addressing the decarbonization of heat in the industrial sector, a collective challenge that demands the collaboration of all stakeholders in its value chain.

Who we work with
The Alliance is coordinated by Iberdrola as promoter; the Center for Innovation in Technology for Human Development of the University of Madrid (itdUPM) as facilitator; and Tecnalia, which leads the technical advisory services on decarbonization.
Currently, the Alliance is made up of more than 120 organizations and is open to all Spanish stakeholders in the thermal demand value chain who wish to commit to accelerating their decarbonization.
